SFA Game Notes
HAMMOND, La. -
'JACKS LOOKING FOR FIRST TWO-GAME WIN STREAK OF 2012:
The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks (4-5/3-2 SLC) recovered quickly from their loss at McNeese State by beating the Cardinals, 40-26, this past week in Nacogdoches. SFA returns to the field Saturday looking for its first two-game win streak of the season, but it won't be easy as the 'Jacks will take on one of the league's surprise team of 2012. Despite having lost consecutive games, Southeastern Louisiana had been atop the Southland Conference standings for the first five weeks of the season. The Lions have dropped three of their last four games, and are currently in a two-way tie for third in the conference with a 3-2 record. Saturday's game is slated to begin at 7 p.m. from Strawberry Stadium.
SFA vs. THE LIONS:
The Last Meeting

'Jacks Victorious on Senior Night
The Stephen F. Austin football team got all it could handle from the Southeastern Louisiana Lions (2-8/0-6 SLC) Saturday evening, but the 'Jacks held on for a 28-20 victory. SFA sent the 2011 class of seniors off in victorious fashion on senior night, and pushed their current win streak to four heading into the season finale at Northwestern State.
The Lumberjacks are 9-5-1 (.633) all-time against Southeastern Louisiana, and have won four straight games, and five of the last six. Since the Lions revitalized the program in 2004, SFA has won five of the seven meetings. The 'Jacks are 4-1-1 (.750) all-time against Southeastern Louisiana in Hammond. SFA recorded a dominant 41-10 victory over the Lions in their last trip to Southeastern (2009).
PRODUCTIVITY: SFA has recorded it's strongest offensive output against the Lions during its current four-game win streak. The 'Jacks are averaging 42 points per game in the last four meetings, including the three highest point totals by an SFA squad in series history (48, 41, and 51). Last season, the Lumberjacks bucked that trend by recording a relatively low scoring victory, 28-20.
JUST PLAIN OFFENSIVE: SFA recorded 537 yards of total offense against Lamar. It marked the sixth time this season the 'Jacks have recorded at least 500 yards of total offense. The only two FCS schools to hold SFA below 500 yards were nationally ranked Montana State and Central Arkansas, but the 'Jacks still out gained those two school posting more than 460 yards in each game.
WINNING SEASONS: With Saturday's win over Lamar, SFA still has a shot at its fourth-straight winning season, but it has to win its final two games. If SFA closes out the year with two wins it would equal the third-longest stretch of winning campaigns in program history.
FIRST DOWNS: SFA recorded 34 first downs against the Cardinals. It is the fourth time this season the Lumberjack offense has recorded at least 30 first downs in a game. SFA had a season-high 36 at Texas State.
THE COACHES: J.C. Harper became the 18th head coach of the SFA Lumberjack football team in December 2006. A two-time SLC Coach of the Year, Harper has guided SFA to two conference titles and NCAA playoff appearances. He is 33-35 (.485) in his sixth season as a head coach. Southeastern Louisiana head football coach Ron Roberts is 3-6 (.333) in his first season with the Lions. He is 50-22 (.694) in his career as a head coach.
