NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack running back Derrick Blaylock wrapped
up the 2000 season Saturday with the seventh 100-yard rushing day of the season. Blaylock finished the season with 1,382 yards, good for second on the all-time single season rushing list at the university. Larry Centers holds the record with 1,440 yards in the 15-game 1989 season.
Blaylock accepted an invitation to appear in the annual Hula Bowl Classic in Honolulu before the season began, and accomplished the things he wanted to in the 2000 season to justify the invitation. Blaylock finished the season with an incredible 6.8 yards per carry average. He is now second on the all-time single season rushing list at SFA.
The Atlanta, Texas senior led the team with eight rushing touchdowns and also added 10 receptions for 60 yards out of the backfield.
