Dec. 19, 2003

NACOGDOCHES, Texas -- Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack head football coach Mike Santiago announced today that junior college transfers Jerry Little of Tyler Junior College and James Shead of Kilgore Junior College have signed letters of intent to continue their education and play football at SFA next year.

Shead is a 6-0, 200-pound defensive back from Kilgore High School that has spent the past two seasons at Kilgore College playing for coach Jim Rieves. Shead helped lead the team a 6-4 record and a playoff berth in 2003. The Rangers lost to Tyler Junior College in the first round of the playoffs.

Little is a 6-7, 330-pound tackle from Boerne, Texas that spent the past two years at Tyler Junior College playing for coach Dale Carr. The Apaches went 10-2 this past season including a 55-3 win in the Heart of Texas Bowl earlier this month.

Both Shead and Little will enroll at the university in January.
