SFA Men Tied for Fourth at SLC Championships

McKINNEY, Texas - The Stephen F Austin men's golf team fired a 12-over 298 Monday afternoon in the opening round of the Southland Conference Golf Championship at the Stonebridge Ranch Country Club. The Lumberjacks are currently fourth overall on the 7,346-yard, par-72 course.

Junior Mitchell McLeroy led the 'Jacks carding a two-under 70 to finish in a two-way tie for second place at the end of the day. The Mansfield native is just one stroke off the lead going into Tuesday's second round. Freshman Blake Pugh was only two strokes behind McLeroy, finishing in a five-way tie for fourth place. Senior Michael Smith shot a 76 to end the day to tied for 23rd overall.

Senior Stetson McMillan and freshman Cody Wing rounded out the field for SFA. The duo represents two of five tied for 38th overall, each carding an 80 in the opening round.
