SFA Golf Improves by 13 Strokes

EDMOND, Okla. - The Stephen F. Austin Lumberjack golf team shot a second-round 316, improving by 13 strokes from its opening round of 18 holes, at the OU Intercollegiate Monday morning. The 'Jacks enter Tuesday's final round of action 11th overall.

Freshman Michael Smith remains the squad's most consistent player shooting a nine-over par 80 to place in a four-way tie for 28th place. Smith was bested by two other Lumberjacks as sophomore Matt Oates recorded the team's lowest round Monday. Oates improved by 13 strokes from his opening round score shooting a three-over 74. He is currently 50th overall with a 161.

Sophomore Richard Wilkenfeld showed the greatest improvement taking 17 strokes off his opening round score. He is currently 63rd overall with a 95-78 - 173.

Freshmen Kyle Robbins and Justin Weant both finished the second round one stroke off their opening round score. Weant is currently tied for 57th overall with an 83-84 - 167, while Robbins is two strokes back with an 84-85 - 169. Robbins is currently 59th overall.
