Junior Bradley Phelps leads the 'Jacks tied for 12th

VERO BEACH, Fla.  – The Stephen F. Austin men’s golf team fired an opening round 291 in Monday morning’s Quail Valley Collegiate Invitational. The Lumberjacks closed the day with a second round 294 to finish in 5th place (585) heading into Tuesday’s final round.

SFA Junior Bradley Phelps led the ‘Jacks on day one with an opening round even-par 72. Phelps closed the day with a one-over par 73 to finish tied for 12th (145)

Sophomore Luke Sheehan (70-76) and Junior Blake Pugh (75-71) finished the day with identical totals of 146 to finish tied for 14th. The duo will look to continue their steady play and move up the leaderboard in tomorrow’s final round.

Junior Austin DeWitt fired an opening round two-over 74 before closing with a 75 to finish tied for 26th at 149. Sophomore Major Monzingo carded back-to-back rounds of 75 to finish tied for 30th at six-over par.

The Lumberjacks return to action Tuesday morning looking to grab their second top-five finish of the season.
