SFA Lineup Head coach Trey Schroeder is hoping to build off his solid final round at the Rice Intercollegiate earlier this week, using a similar lineup for the Moe O'Brien Intercollegiate. Junior Blake Pugh will occupy the SFA #1 spot coming off his 12th-place finish in Houston, with sophomore Luke Sheehan and junior Austin DeWitt filling in the second and third slots. Redshirt freshman Baxter Ward and freshman Cory Brown will round out the SFA scorecard with junior Bradley Phelps competing as an individual.
Weather Forecast Weather shouldn't play too much of a factor at the Moe O'Brien Intercollegiate but the course could be slightly wet at times. Monday highs are expected to be in the low 70s with fog and showers possible in the morning hours. Rain is expected to build in the overnight hours and could linger throughout the day Tuesday with temperatures dipping into the lower to mid 60s.
SFA at the Moe O'Brien Intercollegiate SFA has been a constant fixture at McNeese State's host tournament as the `Jacks have won the even twice, sitting atop the team standings in 1982 and in 1961. Last season SFA placed second in the weather-shortened event while former `Jack Mitchell McLeroy tied for the individual championship, becoming the fifth SFA golfer to capture at least a share of the individual title at the Moe O'Brien.
Last Time Out After struggling through the opening two rounds, SFA caught fire in the final round of the Rice Intercollegiate, shooting the second-lowest round of the final 18 to finish sixth overall. The `Jacks had a pair of golfers finish among the top-20 of the individual standings as Pugh finished in sole possession of 12th-place with a 3-over 219, followed by Sheenan tying for 16th with a 6-over 222.
Looking Ahead After this week's trip to Lake Charles, SFA will have a couple weeks off before heading to deep South Texas, competing in the Border Olympics. Hosted by Texas A&M International, the two-day event will be held March 14-15 in Laredo.
