INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -
Junior Mitchell McLeroy will participate in the NCAA Regional Golf Championships announced committee officials Monday evening. McLeroy is one of five individuals who will compete in the regional in Norman, Okla., beginning Thursday, May 17th.
"Mitchell had a very good all-around season and was a team leader throughout the year," said head coach Trey Schroeder. "I am very proud of how well he competed every week. I am excited that he gets to move on to the next level and prove himself."
A two-time All-Southland Conference selection, McLeroy played his best golf of the season down the stretch. He finished the year with eight top-10 finishes, including four top-five performances in the final five tournaments of the season. He carded a one-over par 217 to finish second overall, only one stroke off the leader at the UALR/First Tee Intercollegiate, and followed that up with a tournament title at the Jim West Intercollegiate by firing a nine-under par 207. He wrapped the 2011-12 regular season by earning first-team all-conference honors.
