Before coming to SFA, Branson received his undergraduate degree in Physical Education from Baylor University in 2014. He started his career coaching at the high school level during his sophomore year in Waco. Branson also split his time coaching an AAU team, the Centex Elites, and produced four players that received college scholarships.
After he graduated from Baylor, Branson moved to coach at Vanguard College Preparatory School and helped guide the team to a 25-5 record that won them a trip to the Sweet 16 in Waco.
In 2015, Branson became the volunteer assistant coach for the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor Women’s Basketball team. During his time there he helped lead them to a 15-11 record and earned them a spot in the American Southwest Conference Tournament.
Branson, a native from Palmdale California, played high school ball at Quartz Hill High school before his playing career ended. Branson is now a graduate student at Stephen F. Austin, pursuing his M.A. in Mass Communications.
