NEW ORLEANS, La. - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks dominated their way to another Southland Conference win on Thursday night, making easy work of New Orleans by the final score of 68-36.
Porsha Roberts led the way for SFA with 22 points and eight rebounds. She was close to a double-double in the first half wih 16 points and seven rebounds at the break.
SFA (16-11,10-5 SLC) was able to get its bench involved on Thursday with 23 points from the nonstarters. Antionette Carter led them with 10 points and six rebounds.
Tierany Henderson had a strong defensive effort for the Ladyjacks with nine rebounds and three blocks.
New Orleans (0-26, 0-15) received nine points from Danielle Davis to lead the Privateers. UNO could not handle SFA's defensive pressure with the Ladyjacks forcing 19 turnovers.
The Ladyjacks limited UNO to just 18.9 percent shooting. It was the 17th time this season SFA has held its opponent to 60 or fewer points. The Ladyjacks are now 15-2 in those contests and 10-0 in conference play. It was the first time since Jan. 14, 2013, the Ladyjacks held their opponent under 40 points when they did it against Southeastern Louisiana.
SFA will close out its road schedule on Saturday when they take on Southeastern Louisiana at 2 p.m. Saturday's contest will be crucial to the Southland Conference standings as the regular season winds down next week.
