Women's Basketball Has First Practice

NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack basketball team held their first official practice for the 2013-14 season Tuesday afternoon in the William R. Johnson Coliseum.
The Ladyjacks begin their quest for their 16th league crown in program history, after finishing the 2012-13 season on a 14-17 campaign. SFA finished 8-10 in Southland Conference play and extended their streak of league tournament appearances to a 26th consecutive season.
Head women’s basketball coach Brandon Schneider enters his fourth season at the helm of the Ladyjacks and returns all five starters from last season. SFA returns nine letterwinners from a season ago, which include second team All-Southland Conference selection Porsha Roberts (Junior, Center), Antionette Carter (Senior, Forward), Kali Jerrell (Senior, Guard), Daylyn Harris (Junior, Forward), Tierany Henderson (Junior, Forward), Brittney Matthew (Junior, Guard), LaNesha Middleton (Sophomore, Forward), Paulletta Powell (Sophomore, Guard) and Victoria Pena (Sophomore, Guard).
The 2013-14 Ladyjacks also boast five newcomers in Destiny Bragman (Junior, Center), Alexis Fatheree (Freshman, Guard/Forward), Brentney Branch (Freshman, Guard), Taylor Ross (Freshman, Guard) and Adrienne Lewis (Freshman, Center).
SFA opens the 2013-14 season with the Preseason WNIT beginning Nov. 8.
