NACOGDOCHES, Texas -
The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack basketball team will be opening their 2009-10 regular-season schedule Saturday against North Texas. Along with the home opener, the Ladyjacks will also be holding a canned food drive. Fans will receive free admission to the game with the donation of three canned food items. The donations will be delivered to Nacogdoches Hope and the Harvest House.
The Ladyjacks opened the season with two exhibition contests last week. SFA defeated St. Mary's (TX), 70-43, and followed that up with an 81-62 victory over Ouachita Baptist. The Ladyjacks return 11 letterwinners and all five starters from a 2008-09 team that went 15-14 on the year, and 10-6 in Southland Conference.
Saturday's contest against the Mean Green is slated to begin at 7:30 p.m., from the William R. Johnson Coliseum. The Ladyjacks will follow that up with a game against Rice Saturday, Nov. 21.
