FOR STARTERS: The Ladyjacks continue their six-game road trip this Saturday with a trip to Grambling, La. to play the Grambling St. Lady Tigers at 7 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT: Sophomore center Porsha Roberts established career-highs with 31 points and 17 rebounds to help lead the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks to a 76-71 victory over the CSU Bakersfield Roadrunners Saturday afternoon at the Cal Poly Thanksgiving Tournament.
THE LADY TIGERS: Grambling (0-5) has struggled out of the gate and is playing at Kansas University on Wednesday, Nov. 28 at 2 p.m. GSU is being outscored by an average of 27.7 points per game and is averaging just 49.8 points a night. The Lady Tigers are coming off a 62-44 loss at Wichita State on Tuesday. Grambling shot just 27 percent from the field and had 28 turnovers. Joanna Miller led the Lady Tigers with 17 points but shot just 4-of-19 from the field.
COVERAGE: Saturday's game will not be streamed online or have live stats but can be heard on Q107.7 FM or www.q1077.com for the first time this season with James Dixon doing play by play and Kenny Bybee on color.
ROBERTS DOMINATING: Sophomore center Porsha Roberts had a monster game in SFA’s 76-71 win over CSUB. The Waco, Texas native scored a career-high 31 points and 17 rebounds and also blocked three shots. Of her 17 rebounds, 11 of those were on the offensive end. Roberts has already matched her freshman season double-doubles total with three in 2012.
BENCH PRODUCTION: The Ladyjacks have dominated the opposing bench as far as point production. SFA leads the season battle 160-100 and has only been outscored in one game (Wiley).
BETTER LATE THAN NEVER: SFA has proven to be a team of two halves in the early going. The Ladyjacks have outscored their opponents 187-185 in the first 20 minutes compared to 243-170 in the second half.
PRESEASON PICKS: SFA was picked to finish second in the Southland Conference Preseason Coaches Poll and fourth in the Sports Information Directors Poll.
POSTSEASON PLAY: The Ladyjacks made their 26th appearance in postseason play in 2011-12, falling to Northern Iowa in the first round of the 2012 Women’s Basketball Invitational.
