READING, Pa. - The No. 13 Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks bowling squad sits in eighth place following a 2-4 record in quad Baker play on day one of the Kutztown Invitational Friday at Hiester Lanes.
SFA (36-21) began the day by falling to No. 10 Kutztown (host school), 790-715 but were able to bounce back to defeat No. 17 New Jersey City, 827-719, the highest score of the day for the Ladyjacks. SFA continued that pattern in match three by falling to No. 11 St. Francis (PA), 805-770 but responded with a 775-650 triumph over No. 8 Adelphi.
The Ladyjacks ended the day with close losses to both Monmouth (799-788) and No. 5 Fairleigh Dickinson (777-752).
Maryland-Eastern shore leads the tournament after day one with a total pin count of 4940, followed by Norfolk State (4759), Vanderbilt (4758), Sacred Heart (4725), Kutztown (4679), Wisconsin-Whitewater (4657), St. Francis-PA (4635) and SFA (4627) to round out the top eight.
