KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks bowling remains in seventh place following day two if the Kutztown Invitational at Heister Lanes in Reading.
SFA (45-34) followed up a 4-2 Baker Matches record on Friday with an identical mark in traditional team matches Saturday afternoon.
The No. 11 Ladyjacks began the day with a 997-958 loss to No. 13 St. Francis but then turned around to beat Medaille, 913-748. Third-ranked Sacred Heart then handed SFA their other loss of the day by a score of 948-915.
SFA ended the afternoon by winning three straight decisions, knocking off No. 2 Fairleigh Dickinson (952-946), Cheyney (836-799) and Howard (892-853).
The Ladyjacks have a total of 10,097 pins after two days of competition. Fairleigh Dickinson (10,739), Maryland-Eastern Shore (10,541) and Valparaiso (10,444) stand first through third in that order.
Whitney McCoy (1128 pins) and Nicole Parkhurst (1122) are SFA’s team-leaders in pins entering play on Sunday.
The Kutztown Invitational will conclude on Sunday, Jan. 29 with three best four-of-seven baker matches in bracket style. Total pins for each team for the (12) team matches on Friday and Saturday will determine the schedule for bracket position rounds.
Following Sunday's competition, awards will be given to the first, second, third and fourth place teams as a result of baker bracket position round matches. Individual awards will consist of MVP and All-Tournament Team. MVP and All-Tournament Team will be based on total pin fall for the six traditional team games.
