EULESS, Texas - With a fourth place finish at this weekend's USBC Intercollegiate Team Sectionals, the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks guaranteed themselves a spot in the 16-team 2012 United States Bowling Congress Intercollegiate Team Championships.
The field of 16 women's teams was determined at sectional qualifiers at four sites - Allentown, Pa.; Euless, Texas; Fairview Heights, Ill.; and Smyrna, Tenn. - with the top four teams in each division advancing.
All teams bowled 64 games of Baker competition over two days for the right to advance to the Intercollegiate Team Championships, which will be held April 19-21 at Sun Valley Lanes in Lincoln, Neb.
This weekend the No. 10 Ladyjacks totaled 11,856 pins, behind just Wichita State (13,037-1st), Midland (12,135-2nd) and West Texas A&M (11,980-3rd). SFA's Nicole Parkhurst also qualified as one the 16 women who will compete for the individual national championships.
The women's finals will be broadcast in May on CBS Sports Network.
