WICKLIFFE, Ohio – Stephen F. Austin bowlers Nicole Parkhurst and Melanie Crawford have been announced as National Tenpin Coaches Association All-Americans for 2013-14, announced today by the organization. Parkhurst was named a second team All-American while Crawford earned third team honors.

"It is a huge accomplishment to have two players recognized by the NTCA for performance on the All-American teams," said head coach Amber Lemke. "They have both had incredible seasons and shining moments at different events during the year. Both have been huge assets to the team and have helped lead the program to one of the best seasons in program history. This is a great honor for both Melanie and Nicole and a big step for the team."

Parkhurst picks up the second All-America honor of her career, being named an honorable mention selection in 2013, earning the distinction as the first All-American in program history. The senior from Utica, N.Y., placed 19th at the USBC Team USA Trials in Las Vegas, Nev., in January and has been an integral part of the emergence of the SFA bowling program for the past four seasons.

Crawford picks up the first All-America honor of her career as she has stepped into a leadership role for the Ladyjacks. The sophomore from Allen was also recently named as the Alberta E. Crow Star of Tomorrow Award winner, given annually to an up-and-coming female bowler.

The duo led SFA to one of the top seasons in program history as the Ladyjacks reached as high as fourth in the NTCA national rankings, a program-best. SFA also captured the first two tournament titles in program history, winning the Tulane Invitational and the FDU Jamboree during the fall.

Currently ranked ninth in the nation, the Ladyjacks have posted a top-five finish in eight of their 10 tournaments on the season. SFA is preparing for the 2014 USBC National tournament in Reno, Nev., on April 15-18, coming off a second-place finish at the USBC Regional tournament in Fort Worth last month.

The All-American teams are based on votes from collegiate head coaches who are members of the National Tenpin Coaches Association.
