    NASHVILLE, TN- The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks bowling team had seven bowlers named to the 2012-13 Academic All-National Ten Pin Coaches Association Honorable Mention on Friday.

    SFA, who finished the season ranked ninth in the nation, excelled on the lanes and in the classroom as evident by their team GPA of 3.46. 

    Those receiving honorable mention were sophomore Amanda Boethel (4.00 GPA, Psychology), freshman Melanie Crawford (3.88 GPA, Marketing), senior Sierra Gibbons (4.00 GPA, Environmental Science), senior Dustie Hammond (3.60 GPA, Psychology), sophomore Chelsea King (3.40 GPA, Criminal Justice Corrections), junior Nicole Parkhurst (3.40 GPA, Interdisciplinary Studies) and freshman Stephanie Sims (3.56 GPA, Hospitality Administration). 

    The NTCA honored fifteen student-athletes with first, second and third team mention. A total of 164 student-athletes representing thirty four schools were named to the NTCA’s academic honor roll. To be honored, student-athletes had to achieve a minimum of a 3.4 grade point average during the recent academic year.
