Future Ladyjack Melanie Crawford made the cut of the final 16 bowlers at the North Pointe Junior Gold Championships on Thursday.

INDIANAPOLIS, IN - Melanie Crawford, an Allen High School graduate and Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack signee, became one of 16 bowlers to make the final cut at the 2012 North Pointe Junior Gold Championships on Wednesday.
Competition for the 20-and-under division began on Monday, and Crawford has progressed through the field advancing past the cuts of 81, 64 and now the final 16. Crawford ended Wednesday with a grand total of 4964 after 25 total games (198.56 average).
Automatic Junior Team USA spots were awarded to the top two girls in the 20-and-under division after 25 games of qualifying. Additional automatic spots will be given to the winner and runner-up after bracket play in the 20-and-under division. If one or both of the finalists in the bracket already earned a spot through qualifying, the automatic spot becomes an at-large selection.
The North Pointe Junior Gold Championships is an annual national tournament for the top male and female youth bowlers in the United States. The tournament awards $250,000 in scholarships and youth bowlers also have the opportunity to earn a spot on Junior Team USA. The tournament is broken up into 4 divisions - U15 Boys, U15Girls, U20 Boys, U20 Girls.
Current Ladyjack Nicole Parkhurst and 2012 signee Stephanie Sims were also part of the action this week.
