NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Stephen F. Austin head bowling coach Amber Lemke announced the signing of NYOS Charter School's Kiara Grant to a national letter of intent on Tuesday.
Grant, a native of Austin, Texas, has been competing on the national level for the past four years and recently qualified for her fifth year of Junior Gold competition that takes place in the summer of 2013 in Detroit, Michigan. This past April Grant competed in her first Pro Women's Queens tournament, the first year it was offered to high school athletes. Grant finished 74th, missing the cut by just nine places.
Grant is a three-time high school Austin district champion (2009-11) and a two-time high school regional champion (2010-11). She has a career-high game of 300 and a high series of 794 in which the USBC confirmed that she had the highest series in the state of Texas for girls in 2012.
Grant is also a member of the National Honor Society, 2012-13.
