Bowling Ranked Fifth In Latest NTCA Poll

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack bowling program achieved their hightest ranking in program history with their No. 5 national ranking in the National Tenpin Coaches Association (NTCA) December poll.
"We had a lot of firsts this semester and ending the semester with our highest ranking in school history is very exciting," head bowling coach Amber Lemke said. "The ladies have been working really hard and they understand that they have to work harder every year as the field continues to stronger. Our plan is to carry over our success from the first part of the year into the second part of the year and keep moving up in the rankings."
SFA (28-11) enjoyed a semester of firsts this fall. The Ladyjacks' fall season was highlighted by their first tournament win in program history at the Tulane Invite (Oct. 20). SFA then followed up by taking home another first place trophy at FDU Jamboree.
Arkansas State garnered the top spot in the rankings receiving 659 points and posting a 31-11 record. Maryland-Eastern Shore, Central Missouri, Fairleigh Dickinson round out the top four in front of the Ladyjacks. Nebraska, Wisconsin-Whitewater, Vanderbilt, Kutztown and Sam Houston are ranked sixth through tenth, respectively.
SFA, with its first top five ranking since the program was started competition in the 2009-10 academic year, will not compete again until the Mid-Winter Invite Jan.17-19 in Jonesboro, Ark.
