Ladyjacks Eighth at SLC Championships

CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack golf team shot a 324 on the opening day of the Southland Conference Championships at the par-72, 6,098-yard Corpus Christi Country Club course Monday afternoon. The Ladyjacks enter the second day of action eighth overall, but sit only four strokes behind Central Arkansas and Sam Houston State.

Freshman Marissa Bransburg had a strong opening day to lead the Ladyjacks with a three-over par 75. Bransburg is currently tied for sixth overall entering Tuesday's second round of 18 holes. Sophomore Allison Flake finished the day four strokes back of Bransburg with a seven-over 79. She is tied for 17th overall. SFA had its other three players finish the day tied for 33rd overall with an 85. Senior Noelle Willcoxon, sophomore Chelsea Simmons and freshman Aliece Anderson rounded out the scoring for SFA.

The Ladyjacks return to play Tuesday morning for the second round of action. Anderson will be the first Ladyjack to tee off beginning at 8 a.m.
