NACOGDOCHES, Texas -
Ann Holcomb has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue her education and play golf for Stephen F. Austin announced head coach Trey Schroeder Wednesday evening.
"We've seen her play quite a bit," said SFA head coach Trey Schroeder. "She is just a winner. She wants to win, she expects to win and she is very vocal about that, and that is one of the things we really liked about her. We expect her to be a vocal leader for us on and off the golf course. She is also a very intelligent young lady as well having been named class salutatorian."
Holcomb brings a paper trail of success with her to Nacogdoches. A three-time district champion, Holcomb represented Crockett at the state championships all four seasons of her high school career. Her best individual finish came during the 2012 season when she finished fourth. She followed that up this season with a fifth-place finish.
Along with her three district titles, Holcomb was the top golfer in her region each of the past two seasons. She won the 2013 regional title by firing a 70-66-68 - 204 at the Peach Tree Golf Course in Bullard. She dominated the field winning the title by 18 strokes.
