June 14, 2013
Now that the school year is over, and before we begin the 2013-14 academic year, SFA athletics wanted to take a look back at the Top 25 Moments from the 2012-13 season.
After struggling in the opening round of the Challenge at Onion Creek, the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack golf team battled their way back into contention by firing a program-record 294 in the next round. It marked the first sub-300 round for a program that was only in its fourth year of existence.
Senior Chelsea Simmons led the charge by cutting 10 strokes off her opening-round score to fire a program-best individual round of 69 on the Onion Creek Original Course. Senior Allison Flake recorded the Ladyjacks' second lowest round after cutting six strokes off her opening round score, while junior Aliece Anderson carded a 75. Both Sydney Reed and Rose Henderson rallied from tough first rounds to shoot sub-80 scores in the second to finish out the Ladyjacks' scoring.
