SFA Golfers Finish Strong at CPT National Championship

SFA golfers finish strong at CPT Championship.

The Stephen F. Austin golf program had two players competing at the CPT National Championship on the Texas Star Golf Course in Euless, Texas Thursday. The four-day tournament ended with both golfers finishing among the overall top 10. Junior Bradley Phelps was competing for the men and newcomer Ann Holcomb was competing for the SFA women.

Holcomb won a scorecard playoff to finish second overall in the tournament. She battled her way into the playoff after firing a four-over 75 on the final day of action. She carded a 77-78-75 - 230 over the course of the three-day tournament.

Phelps finished the tournament in a two-way tie for 10th. He opened the tournament with a one-under 69, before falling off the pace in the second round with a 76. He rallied on the final day to finish with a three-day score of 69-76-73 - 218.

Ladyjack sophomore Julia Bazaldua was slated to play in the tournament but was forced out of competition due to an injury.
