Schroeder Adds Four to SFA Golf Program During Early Signing Period

Nov. 18, 2016

NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Stephen F. Austin head golf coach Trey Schroeder announced four additions to the SFA golf program during the early signing period, two to each program. The Lumberjacks have signed Max Kettler and Andy Lopez with Alexis Szewczyk and Kelly Yang joining the Ladyjack golf program.

All four signees come from tradition-rich golf programs in the Dallas and Houston areas, major golfing hotbeds in the state of Texas. Kettler (Southlake Carroll), Lopez (Plano West) and Szewczyk (McKinney Boyd) represent the DFW area with Yang (Fort Bend Clements) coming to Nacogdoches from the Houston area.

Each of the early signees will join the SFA golf program in the fall of 2017 and will add valuable tournament experience to a pair of solid teams. Both men's and women's programs had strong showings in the fall season, finishing in the top-10 in each tournament, highlighted by the Lumberjacks' second-place showing at the Duck Commander Intercollegiate. The Ladyjacks had five top-10 finishes, finishing third at both the ORU Bob Hurley Shootout and the UIW Lady Cardinal Classic.

Both teams have completed their fall schedules and will resume the 2016-17 season in the spring, beginning with the Lumberjacks competing in the Wyoming Desert Classic in Palm Desert, California February 17th through 19th. The Ladyjacks resume play in March, playing in the UT-Rio Grande Valley Invitational March 6th and 7th.
