NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks took advantage of a depleted Arkansas-Pine Bluff squad with a 4-0 victory Friday evening at the SFA Soccer Field for their third consecutive win. SFA had a season-high 44 shots, 18 of which were on goal, while UAPB did not get off a single shot.

"Tonight we accomplished what we wanted to in getting everyone involved and taking a business-like approach," SFA head coach Tony Amato said. "We were also able to get some of key players some rest and now we look forward to Baylor on Sunday."

SFA (7-2-0) and UAPB (1-10-0) played to a running clock through the entirety of the match with the Lady Lions having only 12 available players.

The Ladyjacks scored the game's first goal in the 25th minute when freshman midfielder Ashton Norman scored her second goal of the season. Norman, who made her first collegiate start, scored from almost 10 yards away in front of the box to put the Ladyjacks up 1-0.

Only eight minutes later the Ladyjacks increased their lead to 2-0 on a misplayed ball from Lady Lions goalkeeper Alyssa Cobbs, who accidentally knocked the ball into UAPB's own goal. Cobbs made 14 saves on the night but her individual record fell to 1-10-0.

SFA would put the game away in the 40th minute on a Brenda Salazar goal from nearly 25 yards away, taking a pass from Dallas Brown and blasting a shot to the right of the outstretched arms of Cobbs. The Ladyjacks added one more goal midway through the second half when freshman Kati Betancourt scored her first career goal on an unassisted shot.

Along with a season-high in shots, SFA also had a season-best 15 corner kicks.

The Ladyjacks will now turn their attention to No. 25 Baylor, whom SFA will face Sunday evening at 6 p.m. in Waco.
