An early goal by sophomore Shahin Pabani doomed Sam Houston State Friday night as SFA defeated the Bearkats, 3-0. The Ladyjacks are now 8-3-1 overall and 6-0-0 in Southland Conference play.
Pabani's goal came in the third minute of the game to give SFA a 1-0 lead. Junior goalkeeper Natascia Michalezki recorded seven saves in 90 minutes of action to make the lead stand.
Junior Kim Gray netted her third goal of the season in the 24th minute to give SFA a 2-0 advantage heading into halftime. Freshman Stephanie Prentice added the game's final goal with her first goal of the season within the final 10 minutes of action.
"It was a good performance by our of ladies," said SFA head coach Nicole Nelson. "Sam Houston State is an improved team from last year. We put some good combinations in on a tough field to play on. I think this is a good lead into a tough game on Sunday."
The Ladyjacks return to action Sunday when they travel to San Marcos, Texas, to face Texas State. The game against the Bobcats will begin at 1 p.m.
