THIBODAUX, La. - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks soccer team completed their second straight perfect Southland Conference regular season (8-0-0) with a 4-2 victory over Nicholls State Friday afternoon.

    SFA (15-3-0, 8-0-0) tied the 2011 and 2003 Ladyjacks with their school-record 15th victory in a single-season by outshooting the Colonels 17-10.

Senior forward Laura Sadler, who this week was named the Southland Conference Offensive Player of the Week, scored two first-half goals. The Coppell, Texas native put the Ladyjacks in front 1-0 in the 13th minute with her seventh goal of the season on a shot from nearly 18 yards away. Just nine minutes later, Sadler struck again with her second goal of the game (8th of season) by beating Nicholls goalkeeper Amanda Boylson from the left side.

The Ladyjacks, for all intensive purposes, put the game away in the 32nd minute of the first half when sophomore forward Chelsea Raymond scored her team-leading 11th goal of the year when Boylson fumbled the ball and left the net wide open.

In the second half Nicholls State scored two goals, one from Erin Flores in the 65th minute and the other by Annie Newell in the 76th minute. Those two scores were just the third and fourth the Ladyjacks have allowed in the last two conference regular seasons.

However, in between those two scores, the Ladyjacks got a big insurance score of their own from freshman midfielder Rachel Owens, who at the time put SFA in front 4-1 with her fourth goal of the season on a strike from nearly 45 yards out.

SFA sophomore goalkeeper Morgan Glick made her fourth start of the season and ran her personal record to 3-1 by making four saves.

The Ladyjacks will now have six days off from competition before they take the field again on Friday, Nov. 2 at 4:30 p.m. as the No. 1 seed in the Southland Conference Tournament in Lake Charles, La. They will face the winner of the No. 4 Oral Roberts/No. 5 Sam Houston State match that takes place on Thursday, Nov. 1.
