NACOGDOCHES, Texas -
Stephen F. Austin placed 63 student-athletes on the fall 2011 SLC Commissioner's List announced league officials Thursday afternoon. Among SFA's 63 honorees, 18 of them earned 4.0 grade-point averages.
The list was highlighted by 2011 SLC Soccer Player of the Year, Kylie Louw. The 2011 SLC Soccer Student-Athlete of the Year, and a member of the South African National team which has already qualified for the 2012 Summer Games in London, England later this year, Louw guided the Ladyjacks to a 15-3-1 overall and a perfect mark in league play on the way to the regular-season title. It was a record-setting year for the Ladyjacks as they recorded 13 shutouts on their way to a conference title. A second-team National Coaches Association of America All-Academic selection, Louw set the school's single-season record for assists (14), while also earning academic all-district honors.
The Ladyjack soccer team placed 15 athletes on the list, but the Lumberjack football team led all sports with 27 representatives. The SFA volleyball team had 12 players named to the list, while the men's and women's cross country team added nine.
Athletes must record a 3.0 GPA, and be eligible to compete during the championship season of their respective sport to be nominated.
