NACOGDOCHES, Texas – The Stephen F. Austin soccer team announced the dates for their summer soccer camps on Monday, which will begin June 24-28 with the Summer Day Camp and Academy Day Camp. There will also be an Elite Residential Camp (Co-Ed) July 25-28, 2013.
“Our 2013 Summer Camp programming has something for everyone,” SFA head soccer coach Wally Crittenden said. “Whether you consider your child competitive or recreational in experience level, if your child enjoys playing soccer, we can help direct you to a program that is just right for your family. With the facilities, organization, and talented coaching staff we have been able to secure, there is no doubt this will be one of the top soccer camp experiences available.”
The programs are designed to develop technical skills, promote tactical understanding, and challenge athletes mentally and physically. In addition to improving skills, the camps aim to develop a passion for the game, promote individual success, and have fun in a competitive environment.
The SFA Summer Day Camp is designed for players who want to work on improving their skill while having fun playing many different types of soccer games. Instruction is provided by the SFA Soccer Coaching Staff and players from the SFA Soccer Team. The campers will warm up with their group coach and start the day with a fun game. The campers will rotate between stations working on skills needed to become a better player. Specialized goalkeeper training will not be offered. Those wanting goalkeeper training should sign up for the Academy Day Camp. To cool off at the end of each session, campers will be escorted to the SFA Recreational Center pool to relax and enjoy snacks.
The SFA Academy Day Camp is designed for experienced players who want to work on improving their skill by participating in two sessions per day while having fun playing many different types of soccer games. Instruction is provided by the SFA Soccer Coaching Staff and players from the SFA Soccer Team. The campers will focus in the morning session with their group coach with fun games that emphasize technical standards and speed of play. The afternoon session in the evening of camp each day will see the campers participate in games against other campers of their age under the lights. Two hours of specialized goalkeeper training will be offered as a part of the Academy Day Camp curriculum.
The SFA Elite Residential Soccer Camp is constructed and designed for evaluating future high school and collegiate soccer players.
- For girls, the camp will be a collection of current prospective student- athletes that the SFA coaching staff is recruiting to play at SFA in the future. This will be a great chance to perform and impress the SFA coaching staff while competing against others that are wanting to play at SFA. Current players, incoming players and future players will all be present at the Elite Residential Camp to make the competitive atmosphere an all-time high.
- For boys, this camp will be programmed to challenge participants with an advanced curriculum instructed by boys coaches from club, high school, and college soccer programs across the country.
The field sessions are designed to develop technical skills, promote tactical understanding, and challenge athletes mentally & physically. Coaching and instruction is provided by the SFA soccer staff as well as other college coaches from around the United States. Specialized goalkeeper training will be offered. Each participant will receive a camp t-shirt and written evaluation.
