NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack soccer team will play its first road games of the year this weekend when it takes on competition from the Big 12 Conference and Conference-USA. SFA will head to Lubbock, Texas, for a Friday date with Texas Tech before traveling to Houston to take on Rice on Sunday. Friday's game will start at 7:30 p.m., with Sunday's match set for a 1 p.m. start.

Last Week: SFA opened the season with a pair of thrilling matches last weekend. In the season opener, the Ladyjacks captured a double-overtime victory over St. Edward's on an acrobatic goal from junior defender Jessica Cotton. Cotton out-leaped the St. Edward's defense and headed home a corner kick off the foot of Summer Bradfield to score the winning goal. Two days later, the Ladyjacks couldn't find the net despite earning 12 corner kicks, and fell to Creighton, 2-0.

SFA vs. the Red Raiders: Friday's game will mark the fourth meeting between the Ladyjacks and Texas Tech. SFA is winless in the series so far, with the Red Raiders holding a 3-0-1 edge. The two teams tied, 1-1, when they met in Nacogdoches during the 2003 season, but SFA is 0-2 in Lubbock, so far.

SFA vs. the Owls: When SFA takes on Rice Sunday it will mark the third consecutive year for the two teams to meet. Rice holds a 2-0-0 advantage, having defeated the Ladyjacks both at home and on the road. The Owls recorded a 5-0 win in Nacogdoches last year when they entered the game ranked No. 7 in the Soccer Buzz Central Region poll.

The Coaches: Jaime Frias is in his third year as head coach of the Ladyjack soccer team. He carries a career record of 24-13-1 (.645), including a 12-2-1 (.833) mark against Southland Confer-ence foes. Texas Tech is directed by first-year head coach Tom Stone (0-2-0). Rice is coached by Chris Huston. He has a six-year record of 61-48-9 at Rice (83-64-11 career).

Next Week: SFA will continue its road trip with an Oklahoma swing, when the Ladyjacks take on Tulsa on Sept. 14, then Oral Roberts on Sept. 16.
