Craig, Lee Earn SLC Player Of The Week Honors
Sept. 10, 2013
FRISCO, Texas – Freshman Kelly Ann Craig was named the Southland Conference Defensive Player of the Week while senior goalkeeper Lacey Lee was named the Co-Southland Conference Goalkeeper of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday.
Craig was used all over the field last week in SFA’s road wins against New Mexico State and Texas-El Paso. Against the Aggies, the freshman from Houston, Texas (Stratford H.S.), helped anchor the Ladyjacks backline that recorded their fourth shutout of the season with a 2-0 win. Craig then scored her first collegiate goal in a comeback effort against UTEP in SFA’s double overtime 2-1 win.
Lee led the Ladyjacks in the net to record wins against New Mexico State and Texas-El Paso. The senior from Bedford, Texas (Bedford H.S), did not allow a single goal in 107 minutes of action and she tallied four saves while facing 19 shots.
Lee shared the honors with Houston Baptist goalkeeper Stephanie Castellon.
The Ladyjacks will face another big challenge this Friday when they host the Louisiana State Tigers at the SFA Soccer Field. That match is scheduled to start at 7 p.m.
