This Week: SFA plays just one match this week, albeit an early season critical showdown at the Lamar Lady Cardinals Friday at 7 p.m. The Ladyjacks are a perfect 6-0-0 all-time against Lamar, which includes a 3-1 victory over the Lady Cardinals in last year's Southland Conference Tournament Championship game. SFA is 3-0 all-time in Beaumont.

Game 10- at Lamar (Scouting Report): Lamar enters play this Friday on a bit of a downhill, having gone their past four matches without a victory (0-3-1). The Lady Cardinals fell to Oral Roberts (3-0) in their conference opener on Sunday before playing Northwestern State to a scoreless tie on Tuesday. Lamar is led offensively by junior forward Kimmy Albeno (5 goals) and freshman forward Jennifer Yacuta (4 goals). Junior goalkeeper Bailey Fontenot has allowed 19 goals in 814 minutes while making 52 saves.

SFA Wins SLC Tournament Championship 2-1 Over Lamar
The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks soccer team won the Southland Conference Tournament Championship for the third time in school history with a 2-1 victory over the Lamar Lady Cardinals Sunday afternoon on a rain-soaked Cowgirl Field.

RPI RISE: The Ladyjacks come in at No. 68 in the latest RPI rankings, which is a significant rise from No. 107 at this same point last season.

Best Start In School History: With the win against LSU, the Ladyjacks clinched their best seven-game start in school history (5-1-1). SFA surpassed the previous best mark of 4-2-0 set by the 2003, 2006 and 2012 squads. SFA will now have an opportunity to match their best 10-game start in school history, currently held by the 2003 and 2011 teams (7-2-1).

Stingy Defense: The Ladyjacks have already recorded six shutouts this season and have a shutout percentage of 0.667, which ranks 12th in the nation. SFA also has a superb goals against average of just 0.619, which is good enough for 35th in the country.

Ladyjacks In The Polls: Despite their 2-1 overtime loss against Oral Roberts, the Ladyjacks still remain ranked No. 8 in the NSCAA Central Region Poll, just one spot from where they previously were.

#SouthlandStrong: The Ladyjacks have won 20 of their last 21 regular season Southland Conference matches dating back to the 2010 season and have gone a combined 18-1-0 the past two-plus seasons.

Prince/Dunnigan Named SLC Players of the Week: Junior forward Zuri Prince took home SLC Offensive Player of the Week honors while junior defender Megan Dunnigan was named the SLC Defensive Player of the Week, the league office announced on Sept. 17. Prince scored the game-winning goal in the eighth minute in one of the biggest regular-season victories in school history. Dunnigan was part of the Ladyjacks' backline that shutdown the LSU offense, limiting the Tigers to just three shots on goal en route to a 4-0 shutout.

A New Era is Born: On Jan. 28, 2013, former Texas A&M assistant Wally Crittenden was named the eighth Stephen F. Austin head soccer coach in school history. Crittenden replaces Tony Amato who stepped down last December to become the head coach at the University of Arizona. Crittenden has spent the past three seasons in College Station assisting a nationally ranked Texas A&M team that has recorded a combined 52-16-6 (.743) record.

Picked To Click: Once again the Ladyjacks were picked to win the 2013 Southland Conference regular-season championship in polls conducted by the league's coaches and sports information directors. It marks the third consecutive year the Ladyjacks have been selected to finish first in the Southland in either one of the two polls. SFA received 11 first-place votes in both the coaches and SID's polls to earn a total of 143 points in each poll.

Title Town: The SFA women's soccer program has brought an unprecedented seven Southland Conference regular-season championships back to Nacogdoches. That total is nearly half of the 15 possible regular-season titles in SLC Soccer history.
