The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack soccer team demolished the Nicholls State Lady Colonels, 6-0, at Homer Bryce Stadium Sunday afternoon
The first goal of the match was scored 10:35 into the first half by freshman Nicole Richardson (Mansfield, Texas) and was assisted by defender Christy Mestayer (Houston, Texas). This goal was made off a corner kick. The next goal was made by freshman Sarah Johnson (Ft. Worth, Texas) and was assisted by midfielder Anna Steed (McKinney, Texas). The following two goals were made by midfielder Kendra Cannon (Kilgore, Texas). The first goal was assisted by freshman Dawn Lynch (Grapevine, Texas) and the second was assisted by Steed.
The first goal of the second half was scored by Steed and assisted by Mestayer. The final goal was made by sophomore Leslie Felderhoff (Garland, Texas) and was assisted by Mestayer.
On top of her two goals, Cannon led the team with six shots. Steed followed with five and Johnson and senior Lotta Westerberg (Sodertaje, Sweden) both had four. The team had 31 shots while Nicholls State had four.
Senior Elizabeth Evatt (Plano, Texas) played the first period and had two saves. Freshman Jillian Hazel (New Braunfels, Texas) played the second half and also had two saves.
"We had one of our best performances today," said Head Coach Lance Noble. "Everybody played in the first and second half. This shows our depth, and at this point, we now have as many wins as we did in all of last season."
The Ladyjacks will play Monday, October 15th against the University of Hawaii at 7:00 p.m. at Homer Bryce Stadium. Admission is free.
