FRISCO, Texas - Four Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks were named to the 2006 Southland Conference Soccer Academic All-Conference squad, announced by league officials Thursday. The Ladyjacks landed two automatic selections on the first team - Amanda Alders and Shahin Pabani - and two second-team honorees - Jessica Cotton and Francesca Tierno.

Alders, a sophomore from Colleyville, Texas, was honored with a first-team all-conference award for the second time this season. She was a First-Team All-SLC selection after leading the league in points (25) and goals (11) for the second straight season. The pre-business major has earned a 3.66 GPA through her first year at SFA to garner the academic all-conference honor.

Pabani was also named to the all-conference squad at season's end. The senior was a second-team selection, marking her second career All-SLC award. The 2006 slot on the academic squad is her second academic all-conference honor. Pabani scored six goals this season and tied for the team lead in assists with four. A kinesiology major from Calgary, Alberta, Canada, Pabani has compiled a 3.34 GPA.

Sophomore Jessica Cotton earned her first academic all-conference honor after playing a utility role for the Ladyjacks this season. Naturally a defender, Cotton played three games in net for SFA this season, thanks to injuries to both Ladyjack goalkeepers. She finished the year with one goal and 18 saves and became the first Ladyjack in school history to both score a goal and record a shutout in net in the same season. That versatile performance, along with her 3.51 GPA in interdisciplinary studies, earned her a spot on the second-team academic all-conference list.

Tierno, a sophomore goalkeeper from Kingwood, Texas, also made her debut on the academic all-conference team. Tierno started 12 games in net and posted a 1.46 goals-against average with 43 saves while earning a 6-5-1 record. The pre-physical therapy major carries a 3.66 GPA.
