HOUSTON, Texas – Senior pitcher Carlie Thomas pitched another complete game for the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks as she shutout the Houston Baptist Huskies on Sunday afternoon to close the weekend with a 1-0 win. The complete game was 12th of the season for Thomas and her fourth shutout on the year.
Thomas held HBU (11-17, 7-5 SLC) to just two hits while allowing five walks and striking out three Huskies.
SFA (15-17, 6-5) got five hits on the day with two from freshman second baseman Taylor Vick.
Freshman Katelyn Standley provided the game-winning hit for the Ladyjacks in the sixth inning to break the tie and put SFA on top 1-0. Elizabeth Arana opened the sixth with a lead-off single up the middle and then stole second base. After a pop out by Shalie Day, Standley drove Arana home with a single down the left field line.
The Ladyjacks will be back in action on Wednesday at North Texas for a mid-week game against the Mean Green at 6 p.m. SFA will return home this weekend for a three-game series against Southland Conference newcomer Abilene Christian on Saturday and Sunday.
