Northwestern State (30-10, 11-5) first baseman Brianna Rodriguez hit a two-run home run off Carlie Thomas that hit the top of the left field wall and bounced over with the Lady Demons down to their final strike to erase a 1-0 deficit and eventually give NSU a 3-1 victory over the Ladyjacks.

NSU designated player Cassandra Barefield followed Rodriguez with another home run off Thomas, her 11th of the season, to make the final score of 3-1.

Prior to the seventh inning, Thomas (9-11) had grinded her way through numerous jams to give the Ladyjacks a chance to win, allowing no runs on eight hits and seven strikeouts. NSU's Kaylee Guidry threw a complete game striking out seven and allowing just one run on six hits to improve to 9-3.

SFA had scored their lone run in the sixth inning to take a 1-0 lead at the time. Freshman outfielder Alisa Hamilton started the rally with a single to left field and advanced to second on a misplay by the NSU left fielder. Cadie Weaver then singled to center field and Shalie Day drew a walk to load the bases with nobody out but the Ladyjacks had to settle on a sacrifice fly from Shanice Love as the only run in the inning.

In game two the Lady Demons jumped out to a 3-0 early with a sac fly from Barefield in the first inning followed by a Natalie Landry two-run home run off SFA starting pitcher Angela White off the right field scoreboard in the fourth inning.

SFA tried to put together a big rally in the sixth inning by loading the bases with nobody out and cut the deficit to 3-1 on an RBI single through the left side from Bethany Brown. NSU then turned to Kylie Roos out of the pen to relieve starting pitcher Brooke Boening and she put a stop to the rally by getting Heather Hollingsworth to pop out and Elizabeth Arana to ground back to the circle to end the frame.

The Lady Demons then added three insurance runs in the seventh inning to put the game away. Boening picked up the win in the circle, improving to 8-5 while Roos earned her first save of the season. SFA's White fell to 3-14 by allowing six runs, only three of which were earned, on seven hits and struck out seven.
