DENTON, Texas - Lisa Johnson hit a walkoff sacrifice fly in the bottom of the seventh inning to score Leslie Hirsch from third base to give the North Texas Mean Green a 3-2 victory over Stephen F. Austin Wednesday afternoon at Lovelace Stadium.

SFA (16-31) had rallied from a 2-0 deficit to tie the game in the sixth inning before the Mean Green scored the winning run in the seventh.

Carlie Thomas pitched a splendid game for the Ladyjacks but fell to 10-13 on the season. The sophomore allowed three earned runs on nine hits and four strikeouts. North Texas starting pitcher Ashley Kirk improved to 11-11 with a complete game victory in the circle.

North Texas (24-24-1) jumped on top 2-0 in the first inning on a two-run home run from second baseman Lisa Johnson, her fifth long ball of the season.

The Mean Green had an opportunity to blow the game open in the second inning, loading the bases with two outs, but Thomas got a bit of revenge by striking out Johnson to escape without any damage.

After not having a base-runner for the first four innings, the Ladyjacks were finally able to get to Kirk, beginning with a walk to Elizabeth Arana to lead off the fifth. Two batters later Katelyn Mixon reached on a fielders choice in which Mean Green second baseman Johnson errantly flipped a throw to second, putting runners at first and second with one out.

Following a deep fly out to the left field wall from Jessica Arana, Charlotte Singleton then broke up Kirk's no-hitter with an RBI single to center field to plate Elizabeth Arana and make the score 2-1. Linda Linares nearly gave SFA a lead with a deep fly ball to left field but North Texas outfielder Ashley McCarroll caught the ball with her back against the fence to end the inning.

SFA continued their comeback in the top of the sixth inning with a Bethany Brown leadoff home run to left field, her team-leading fourth long ball of the season, to tie the game 2-2.

However, in the bottom of the seventh inning the Mean Green got singles from Lesley Hirsch and Brooke Foster to put runners at third and first with only one out. The Ladyjacks then went to the bullpen to bring on Angela White to face Johnson, who proceeded to hit the game-winning sac fly.

The Ladyjacks will next host UTSA this Friday and Saturday for the final two games of the 2012 season.
