Ladyjacks Travel To No. 7/9 Texas
Feb. 12, 2013
NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Following a 2-3 performance at the Kajikawa Classic, the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks softball team will hit the road for a trip to Austin on Wednesday to take on the No. 7/9 Texas Longhorns (5-0) at 4:30 p.m. at Red & Charline McCombs Field.
The game will be broadcasted on the Longhorn Network with Carter Blackburn (pxp) and Cat Osterman (analyst) on the call. Live stats for Wednesday will also be available here.
SFA trails the all-time series against Texas 11-3 but it was the Ladyjacks who won the last meeting between the two teams back on April 13, 2011 when SFA won 1-0 behind the pitching of then freshman Carlie Thomas. The victory was SFA's first win in the Division I era against a Top-5 ranked opponent.
The Ladyjacks first two victories of the season came against San Diego State (2-1) and Creighton (4-3). SFA hit just .189 as a team over the five contests at the Kajikawa Classic but junior Cadie Weaver delivered big hits throughout, including a game-winning home run against Creighton.
In the circle junior Carlie Thomas is coming off a terrific tournament in which she went 2-0 with a 1.89 ERA with 25 strikeouts, 15 of which came in a career-high performance against San Diego State.
The Longhorns are batting .331 as a team while averaging 6.4 runs per game. They also have a team ERA of 0.88.
Following Wednesday the Ladyjacks will then take part in the Aggie Classic, Feb. 15-17 against North Carolina, Pittsburgh and Texas A&M.
