NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks softball team will finally play their home opener on Wednesday at 4 p.m. when they host the Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters.
SFA (5-13) has played their previous 18 games all away from Nacogdoches on the road or neutral locations. The Ladyjacks are coming off a 1-4 trip to Florida at the Under Armour Invitational. Sophomore transfer catcher Shalie Day leads SFA in hitting (.304 average), hits (14), total bases (20) and on-base percentage (.439).

Ladyjack Offense Errupts In 9-3 Win At Louisiana Tech
The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks exploded for a combined seven runs in the third and fourth innings to to break the game open and defeat Louisiana Tech 9-3 Wednesday evening at the Lady Techster Softball Complex.
Junior pitcher Carlie Thomas has won all five games in the circle, posting a 2.52 ERA in 60.2 innings pitched. Thomas has struck out 54 batters while walking only 17 and is holding opposing hitters to just a .248 batting average.
The Lady Techsters (9-9) are coming off a 6-0 loss at Northwestern State on March 3, but have won four of their past five contests. La Tech is hitting .309 as a team and have six everyday player hitting over .300, including junior Erin Kipp and her team-best .449 batting average.
Senior pitcher Michelle Jones leads the Lady Techsters pitching staff with a 6-4 record and a 2.61 ERA in 69.2 innings of work.
Following their game against La. Tech, the Ladyjacks will open up Southland Conference play this weekend when they travel to Conway, Ark. for a three-game series against Central Arkansas. SFA will play a doubleheader on Saturday, Mar. 9 beginning at 11 a.m. followed by a single game on Sunday, March 10 at 12 p.m.
