NACOGDOCHES, Texas – Stephen F. Austin softball is set to begin Southland Conference action this weekend when the Ladyjacks host the Nicholls Colonels. A doubleheader is scheduled for Saturday beginning at 1 p.m. at the SFA Softball Field. A single game is set for noon Sunday.
The Ladyjacks (8-12) are led by freshman Brittany Lewis at the plate as she is hitting .381 on the year and has slapped three home runs. Junior Shalie Day also is having a strong year so far hitting with a .358 average. Katelyn Standley, another freshman, leads the team with six home runs.

Walkoff Drops Series at Nicholls
Brittany Marcet hit a walkoff single in the bottom of the seventh to hand the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack softball team its first Southland Conference series loss, falling 2-1 to Nicholls State in the finale Sunday afternoon at Colonel Softball Complex in Thibodaux, La.
With conference play starting, senior Elizabeth Arana looks to ride momentum from last year when she led the Southland Conference in batting average, hitting .459 in conference games a year ago.
Nicholls (7-15) is coming into conference play following a pair of wins over Jackson State last week. The Colonels were picked to finish seventh in the Southland this year by the league’s coaches.
Fans can buy tickets at the gate at the SFA Softball Field. Adults are $4 for adults and $3 for children ages 9-18. Children under 8 years old get in free. SFA students get in free with their student ID.
