    NACOGDOCHES, Texas - After getting swept by Central Arkansas in the opening Southland Conference series of the season, the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks softball team will be looking to get back in the win column on Tuesday when they play at Southeastern Conference foe Arkansas at 5 p.m.

    SFA (6-16, 0-3) has lost seven of their last eight contests and will be facing an Arkansas team that has gone 7-2 over their past nine outing but are coming off a 3-1 loss to Utah Valley State. The Ladyjacks have been led offensively by sophomore catcher Shalie Day and junior shortstop Elizabeth Arana. Day, a transfer from Ashdown, Ark., lead the Ladyjacks with a .293 average and is tied with Arana for the team-lead in hits with 17. Arana, a native of the Woodlands, Texas, is hitting .288  and leads the Ladyjacks with 9 RBI and a slugging percentage of .458.

    In the circle junior Carlie Thomas sports the best ERA (3.01) on the team and will carry a 5-7 record into play on Tuesday. The Huntington, Texas native has struck out 70 batters in 74.2 innings of work.

    The Razorbacks (18-7, 0-0) are batting .319 as a team and have six players currently batting .300 or better. Sophomore utility player Devon Wallace is hitting an astounding .500 thus far (30-for-60) and leads Arkansas with nine home runs and 19 RBI. Arkansas is getting it done in the circle as well, posting a 1.97 ERA as a team.

    Following Tuesday's game the Ladyjacks will return home to host the Lamar Lady Cardinals in a three-game series, beginning with a doubleheader on March 16 at 1 p.m. The two teams will then close the series on Sunday at 1 p.m. Lamar (10-12) is in their first season of competition in the Southland Conference and the first year overall since 1987.
