NACOGDOCHES, Texas -
The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack softball team will play its first home game of the season Saturday when SFA hosts the series-opening doubleheader of a three-game set with McNeese State. The Ladyjacks played their first 26 games of the season away from home, and, thanks to the weather, will have to wait at least a little bit longer for the home opener.
Due to three days of steady rain, the start time for Saturday's first game has been pushed back from noon to 3 p.m. to allow extra time for field preparation.
The Ladyjacks haven't played since last Sunday, when they took an 8-4 win over then-No. 17 Texas A&M in the final game of the Aggie Invitational. SFA went 4-2 in the three-day tournament, also notching wins against Kent State and Utah. The Ladyjacks are 12-14 on the season and carry a 4-2 Southland Conference record into this weekend's series.
McNeese State is 13-15 overall with an 8-1 record in league play. The Cowgirls sit atop the SLC standings. McNeese is coming off a 5-2 home win against Southern on Thursday. The Cowgirls swept UTSA last weekend and have won five straight SLC contests dating to a 3-2 series victory over Texas State.
