The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks (13-14, 6-5) and the University of Texas - San Antonio Roadrunners (16-15, 5-6) split a Southland Conference doubleheader Saturday afternoon at the Coy Sims Softball Complex in Nacogdoches. UTSA took game one by a 4-2 score, but SFA came back in the second game to win, 1-0.
SFA trailed 2-1 in the sixth inning when UT-San Antonio got a two run home run off the bat of Jen Aman to pad their lead to 4-1. The Ladyjacks came back with a run in the bottom of the seventh on a solo home run by Angela Froboese. Morgan Tolleson (5-5) came on in relief of starter Kristin Nolan and was tagged with the loss.
In game two, SFA freshman Kym Kling dueled UTSA's Jennifer Graham through seven innings. Kling (1-4) did not allow a run while scattering four hits, striking out one and walking two in picking up her first collegiate win. UTSA's Jennifer Graham allowed only five hits and gave up one run, that coming in the bottom of the seventh inning. The Ladyjacks did not have a ball out of the infield before the bottom of the seventh inning.
Ashley Moffett, a junior from Brazoria, started the seventh with a single up the middle, the first ball hit out of the infield by the Ladyjacks in the game. Morgan Tolleson then moved her to second with a ground out to first. Moffett then moved to third on a wild pitch and scored when Burleson junior Erica Henrion singled her home for the game's only run.
SFA and UT-San Antonio meet Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. to wrap up the three game series.
