NACOGDOCHES, Texas - The Stephen F. Austin Ladyjacks softball team will look to extend their season-high three-game win streak this weekend when they return to Southland Conference action against Nicholls State in Thibodaux.
The two teams will begin theseries beginning with a doubleheader on Saturday that begins at 1 p.m. followed by the finale on Sunday at 12 p.m.
SFA (9-18) is coming off a 2-0 victory at Louisiana Tech on Wednesday, the second shutout win over the Lady Techsters this season. In that contest Carlie Thomas threw a complete game two-hit shutout to earn her sixth victory of the year and sophomore catcher Shalie Day blasted her second home run of the season.
Nicholls (11-16, 2-4) is in the midst of a season-long seven-game homestand and are coming off an 11-0 victory over Southern on Wednesday. The Colonels have been led offensively by senior outfielder Ashley Bertot, who leads the team in batting average (.318), runs (16) and hits (28). Senior pitcher/first baseman Leah Andrus (.306, 1 HR, 13 RBI), junior designated player Brittany Marcet (.306, 1 HR, 13 RBI) and freshman outfielder Danielle Phillips (.304, 1 HR, 11 RBI) also lead the Colonels at the plate.
