    NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Following a doubleheader sweep of Houston Baptist on Wednesday, the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack softball team returns to Southland Conference action this weekend at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. SFA will take on the Islanders Friday at 2 p.m. followed by a Saturday series finale at 12 p.m.

    SFA (11-25, 2-8) won their first two road games of the season on Wednesday, knocking off HBU by scores of 3-1 and 3-0, respectively. The Ladyjacks got tremendous pitching performances from both Angela White and Carlie Thomas, the two combining for 14 innings pitched while allowing just one earned run on nine hits, four walks and three strikeouts.

    The Ladyjacks bats also came alive in game two, racking up a season-high 11 hits. Elizabeth Arana (3 hits), Faith Hoisager (2 hits) and Cadie Weaver (2 hits) all had multiple-hit performances. 

    The Islanders (12-16, 8-4) also host HBU on Thursday and have won six of their past seven conference games. Greta Cecchetti heads the pitching staff with a 7-4 record while posting a 2.06 ERA with 71 strikeouts. A&M-Corpus Christi is batting just .232 as a team and have been outscored 117-68.
