SFA Run Rules Lamar To Take Series
Angel White held the Lamar Lady Cardinals to three hits, while the bats of the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack softball team exploded for a season-high 14 hits, in an 11-2 run rule to claim the Southland Conference home-opening series 2-1 Sunday afternoon at the SFA Softball Complex.
Lamar (20-22, 12-8) is currently in third place in the conference standings and comes to Nacogdoches following a midweek split with Louisiana-Monroe on Wednesday. The Cardinals have the No. 3 team batting average in league play and the fourth best ERA among pitching staffs.
SFA (18-24, 9-10) sits in seventh place in the standings and would grab the sixth and final spot in the conference tournament if the season ended today.
Saturday’s doubleheader will be webcast on sfajacks.com/allaccess for fans unable to attend the games in person. Sunday will be Senior Day with the team recognizing this year’s six seniors Elizabeth Arana, Brittany Lee, Charlotte Singleton, Carlie Thomas, Cadie Weaver and Nicole Wooten.
The Alumni Association will be hosting a special event on Saturday with members of the SFA Alumni Association and one guest receiving free admission to the softball and baseball games against Lamar. Free hotdogs and hamburgers will be served from noon to 2 p.m. as well.
