NACOGDOCHES, Texas - Following a hard-fought 3-2 loss Wednesday at North Texas, the Stephen F. Austin Ladyjack softball team will host UTSA this weekend for the final series of the 2012 season. Game one will begin Friday at 4:30 p.m. followed by the season finale on Saturday at 1 p.m.
This weekend will be the final two game for seniors Amber Price and Jessica Arana, the two lone seniors for the Ladyjacks.
SFA (16-31, 6-12) will be playing at home for the first time since a 4-2 loss to Central Arkansas on April 21. The Ladyjacks jsut completed a four-game road trip in which they went 3-1 and scored exactly nine runs a piece in each of their three victories (Louisiana Tech, Southeastern La. twice).
UTSA (21-26, 10-8) will enter play on Friday having gone 3-4 in their last seven contests, including a 10-0 non-conference loss at home to Houston on Tuesday. As things stand today they are currently tied for fifth-place with Texas A&M-Corpus Christi in the Southland Conference standings.
The Roadrunners are second in the league in hitting (.290), led by Freshman of the Year candidate Megan Low (.381) and sophomore Molly Fichtner (.371). UTSA's pitching staff is anchored by junior Haylee Staton, who leads the staff with a 2.71 ERA and is the team-leader with 13 victories in the circle.
