Arana Named To All-Southland Conference Team

FRISCO, Texas - Stephen F. Austin sophomore utility infielder Elizabeth Arana was selected Tuesday to the All-Southland Conference third team.The Woodlands, Texas native led the Ladyjacks in nearly every offensive category while playing three different defensive positions.
In 2012, Arana led the Ladyjacks (16-33, 6-14) in batting average (.295), hits (38), doubles (10), triples (3), RBI (21), total bases (66), slugging percentage (.512), walks (29) and on-base percentage (.430). She also was tied with outfielder Bethany Brown for the team lead in home runs (4). Arana also played splendid defense around the infield, committing just three errors (.989 fielding percentage) while starting games at first base, second base and shortstop.
Arana was also one of just three Ladyjacks to play and start in all 49 games this season. The sophomore was also just recently selected to the Capital One Academic All-District VII first-team for her efforts both on the field and in the classroom where she earned a 4.0 GPA while majoring in Kinesiology.
